Architectural Design Awards Program 2024 - EIFS council of Canada

(May 14, 2024, Toronto, ON) The EIFS Council of Canada (ECC) proudly announces the 2024 EIFS Council of Canada Architectural Design Awards Program finalists. The projects chosen for the Finalist Awards are as follows: B-Line Apartment Condos, Children’s Cottage Society, HOME 2 by Hilton, Meadowbrook Lane Passive House Affordable Residence, Nottingham Tower Apartments, and Soleil Condos. Additionally, the Judging panel has identified the following projects for an Award of Merit: 8HAUS Apartment Condos, HighPointe, Peterborough Housing McCrae Phase 2, and The Halo.

The judging panels selection of finalist projects highlighted below, exhibited excellence in the areas of design, contribution to community, sustainability, technical excellence, and the innovative use of EIFS. The Awards Finalist projects, their architectural design teams, utilized EIFS systems, as well as the EIFS execution teams are as follows:

“This year witnessed the most significant Architectural Awards competition since their 2016 inception, in both volume of entries and excellence of projects submitted, remarked John M. Garbin, President/CEO of the ECC. “We congratulate the entire slate of 2024 ECC Awards finalists who once again showcased the versatility, execution and popularity of EIFS as the preferred building envelope solution. We are extremely proud of all the finalists and their excellent teams who once again met the challenges of current and new design and performance paradigms and delivered contemporary and aesthetically pleasing EIFS architecture throughout Canada.”

The nominated projects were evaluated and judged by an esteemed five-member judging panel led by Panel Spokesperson Joe Somfay (Joe Somfay Architect), along with panel members: Nick Swerdfeger
(Barry Bryan Associates), Paul Wright (ACI Wright Architects Inc.), Daniel Cusimano (Cusimano Architect), David De Rose (Synergy Partners), David Woodruff (N53 Architecture Inc.).

At the completion of a demanding and difficult finalist selection process, the judging panel proceeded to select the Grand Prize Award winner from the six category finalists. The Grand Prize recipient will remain confidential until announced at the ECC Architectural Design Awards Dinner on June 17th, 2024 in Toronto. The ECC Architectural Award recipients will receive their awards and be recognized and celebrated at the ECC Awards Dinner amongst an audience of national design and building industry executives.
