(February 25th, 2025, Toronto, ON) The EIFS Council of Canada (ECC) is pleased to formally announce this years ECC Design Awards Judging Panel.

The Awards Panel will convene in early May 2025 to review and independently select the ECC Design Awards Program category finalists as well as overall Grand Prize recipient. The Panel may also select up to two honourable mentions in eight categories: 1) low rise residential, 2) mid rise residential, 3) high rise residential, 4) commercial/retail, 5) recreational/institutional, 6) hospitality, 7) renovation/retrofit, and 8) Panelized/prefabricated EIFS Systems.

The five distinguished members of the Judging Panel for the 2025 ECC Design Awards are as follows:

  • Darius Saplys, Partner and Vice President, API Consultants & Saplys Architects Inc.
  • Greg Ropp, Chief Building Science and Sustainability Officer, Homestead Land Holdings Limited
  • Joe Somfay, Architect
  • John Romanov, Principal Architect and President, Romanov Romanov Architects Inc.
  • Przemyslaw (Shem) Myszkowski, Architect, President, KNYMH Inc.

The ECC Design Awards Program was established to recognize and honour design professionals as well as their EIFS Contractor teams that incorporate EIFS technologies into outstanding and innovative projects. The goal of the ECC Awards Program is to create a new benchmark in EIFS construction to assist design professionals in meeting Canada’s national objective of delivering resilient, energy efficient, and sustainable buildings.

The Awards Program is open to all architects, builders, design professionals and/or EIFS contractors that have completed a building located in Canada which incorporates EIFS technology into outstanding and innovative projects. Eligible projects must be occupied no sooner than January 1st, 2023 and no later than January 31st, 2025.

The deadline for project submissions must be received no later than 11:59 PM, April 21st, 2025.

Award finalists will be announced on May 9th, 2025 and will be recognized and celebrated at the EIFS Council of Canada Awards Dinner on June 17th, 2025.
